New Moon in Libra

Tonight’s moon is a New Moon in Libra.  When the new moon is in libra, it is a time to bring yourself back in balance and focus and reflect upon your goals.  It is a new start.  A good time for new contracts, partnerships, relationships and reestablishing connections.  Above all, New Moon in Libra is an opportunity to reset.  Further, it is a time to be at peace and commit to working thru any issues you have.

New moons in general are a time to set intentions and recognize and appreciate the positive things happening right now.  It’s a time for new beginning and for creating.  A new project, relationship, life change, first date, start a healthy habit. 

A practice you can do during a new moon is to follow the following:

  • Find a quiet space.  If you can ground outside that is great too.
  • Before beginning, drink a glass of water.  Water is one of the 4 elements, and we want to celebrate all 4.
  • Secondly, cleanse your space with clearing spray.  This is our air element.
  • Next, light a candle.  This represents our fire element.
  • Choose a crystal such as smoky quartz, clear quartz, citrine or labradorite to hold in your hand.  This is our earth element.
  • Give gratitude out loud.  I appreciate…
  • After that, set an intention or intentions.  Write it down.  Above all, make your intentions specific. 
  • Say your intention out loud.  My intention during this new moon is…
  • Relax your mind and body.  Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in pulling in light energy.  Hold.  Breathe out any negative energy.  I picture a dark black smoke leaving my body.  Do this 3 times.
  • Reflect on the good happening in your life right now.  Visualize your intentions and how they make you feel.  Notice all the senses you feel.  Focus on your intentions for 5-10 minutes.  Clear your mind and sit in a meditative state allowing any visions.  Think about the moon and all the energy it provides.  Continue for 5-10 minutes before opening your eyes.
  • Finally, hang your intention on your desk, your refrigerator, your mirror or anywhere you can see and read it daily.  Feel the energy of what that intention would mean for you in your life.  Celebrate it and your progress daily.  Journal your progress and appreciations.

Remember, if you are just going thru the motions to check the box, it is not genuine.  This is your self-care time.  In addition, you can meditate as little or long as you want.  Just be present and feeling the emotions.
